It's time, once again, to combine our math knowledge! This time we're going to talk about shapes, specifically polygons, AND the coordinate plane! You might have thought the coordinate plane was just for plotting points, but when it comes to calculating perimeter and area of a shape, it can be really helpful to see that shape mapped out on coordinate plane. Let's help some local park rangers in this lesson, using what we know about plotting points and finding area and perimeter!

- Draw polygons on a coordinate plane
- Use coordinates to find the length of a side
- Calculate area and perimeter of polygons on a coordinate plane

CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.6.G.A.3

Draw polygons in the coordinate plane given coordinates for the vertices; use coordinates to find the length of a side joining points with the same first coordinate or the same second coordinate. Apply these techniques in the context of solving real-world and mathematical problems.
